Born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico, identical twins Jesus and Antonio Estrada, 23, always dreamt of becoming young and famous fashion designers. Growing up in a fashionable family, they were inspired by their mother, who was a model. At two years old, the Estrada’s moved to Tijuana, Mexico and shortly thereafter moved to San Diego, California to live the American dream. After graduating high school, Jesus attended Fashion Careers College where he first learned how to thread a sewing machine. Following college and being featured in several fashion shows in San Diego, he was selected to participate as a season 7 contestant on the Emmy- nominated “Project Runway". Antonio was done filming a documentary for Discovery en Español called Norte a Sur where he traveled Latin America for 30 days as a designer leaving a mark behind for himself. Jesus decided to take it to the next level and welcome Antonio to Haus of Estrada. In 2010, they did their first collection together for Spring 2011. The two brothers collaborated to create RTW looks inspired by their Mexican heritage and the story of Alice and Wonderland. They called it “wonderland meets sexy Latina punk”, and had the opportunity to present their collection in NYCfashion week. For the Spring 2012 Haus of Estrada collection, the Estrada twins made a drastic move to NYC to create a collection inspired by mermaids as a tribute for Maria DiLeonardo, who opened her doors inside her women’s boutique, Siren, for a little studio where Jesus and Antonio can be creative and design their hearts out.
Nicholas D’Aurizio, the creative force behind women’s wear label Nicolena, is making his mark on the fashion world. Fresh off the eighth season of Project Runway, Nicholas is ready to have the world receive his keen sense of style. Blending feminine silhouettes with architectural lines and construction, NICOLENA being a luxury brand and targeted for departments stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Fred Segal and Specialty boutiques such as Opening Ceremony is becoming a celebrity and fashion insider’s favorite go to for classy and sophisticated clothing that remains timeless in its effort and style.
Born in the northern New Jersey suburbs, Nicholas always had a sense of style and fashion, always walking his own line. Though it was his secret desire to enter the fashion world, he was guided to study Architecture and determined to receive his degree in it. Yet the fashion bug he had inside of him could not be ignored, and while studying at The Catholic University America, he worked in the theatre’s costume shop creating show costumes. His love of clothes always had him working in the retail sector, as well as receiving an internship during the summer of 1997 with New York designer Yeohlee. Shortly after finishing his internship, Nicholas made the bold decision to leave Architecture and enter the fashion world. He relocated to New York City, where in 2000 he began working as a handbag and accessories designer. Taking classes at FIT, to further his design talent, Nicholas excelled in the accessories field, but was never fully satisfied with his role. Nicholas’s gypsy spirit kicked in and took him to Los Angeles, where he fell in love with the west coast. This love for the west coast lifestyle and allure sent Nicholas on a new direction regarding his style and lifestyle. Though his love for the west coast was definite, he decided to move back to Washington, DC where he received his Architecture degree from the Catholic University of America and began his work in the Architectural and Interior Design field before shortly relocating to New York City permanently. This was the time for his design future to take shape. After working several years back in the handbag and accessories field, he was quietly and privately creating his first women’s wear line, Nicolena. The name derives from his paternal grandfather, Nico, who had his own success in the fashion world, having worked with both Calvin Klein and Yeohlee, and his maternal grandmother, Lena, who holds a special place in Nicholas’s heart. With his line taking shape, he was ready to launch in 2009 with his first runway show at Webster Hall, which received local press and had some of the fashion world’s insiders in attendance.
After his first show, there was no stopping Nicholas and it seems there is no stopping Nicolena. Once filming for Project Runway wrapped, Nicholas was once again creating looks for his latest show, which was recently shown at Kiss ‘n Fly in New York City’s trendy meat packing district. Nicholas is ready to tackle the world and is ready to have the women of the world dressed in his creations. He is a force to be reckoned with and loves every second of it. Not one to shy away from the drama and hard work, Nicholas is determined to have the world remember his name and the name of his legacy, NICOLENA.
