GOLDEN GLOBES 2011: THE BEST-DRESSED FASHION POLICE TRENDSETTERS.

Black be gone! This year the red carpet came alive with color — emerald green a favorite of the evening, feminine pinks, festive metallic and sultry reds. Red-carpet veterans, Armani, Versace, Calvin Klein and Lanvin, delivered gorgeous gowns for deserving ladies, while a few sartorial surprises took my breath away. An expectant Natalie Portman showed off her blossoming figure in a pink silk Viktor & Rolf gown and Tilda Swinton looked forever elegant in Jill Sander.

However while watching Fashion Police on E! Our fashion police Joan Rivers told us what she considered hot and what’s not.  Awarded Best Dressed at the Golden Globes Red Carpet was Angelina Jolie.  Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Double nominees and doubly chic, Brad Pitt is dapper with wife Angelina Jolie in a fitted white one shoulder gown with a pop of red on the top by Versace. She accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a red Christian Louboutin clutch.

Charlize Theron was also a serious contender for "Best Dressed" of the evening in an ethereal plunging blush gown by Dior Couture paired with jewelry and headband by Cartier.

But it doesn’t stop there Joan Rivers went on to nominate Sarah Michelle Gellar as worst dressed at the golden globe. I have to side with Joan on this one Sarah Michelle Gellar may get a little flack for being different at the golden globes. But there are at least two fans for the Ringer star and her unique Monique Lhuillier gown—that would be us and her 2-year-old daughter, Charlotte, who obviously helped her pick the dress out. In fact, the blue watercolor print looks a little like a toddler watercolor painting, but it's such a mesmerizing effect, along with the elegant asymmetrical draping, that this definitely gets a gold star in my books. While Joan Rivers gave Sarah Michelle Gellar worst dressed at the golden globes, these are the stars that set the trend for our industry. Their creative style, boldness, and major trends from the night included bold brows, natural makeup, and petal pink tones. Anyone still questioning the natural fashion trend of Spring 2012 need not look any further for proof as nude tones were out in full force last night.

This award season is highlighting the lighter side of fashion, with nudes, whites and pastels the new de riguer on the red carpet, and quite refreshing at that. On the other side of the spectrum, deep hues like black, navy and maroon are picking up where bold color left off. It's in this vein that the best dressed of the evening emerged.
